Richfield Springs Is Awarded $9.1 Million for Water Systems Improvements

Local residents received good news this week when New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Village of Richfield Springs will receive a $9.1 million grant to help fund planned upgrades to the community’s wastewater treatment plant and sewer rehabilitation project.

The funding award, administered by the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health (DOH), is aimed at alleviating the burden local ratepayers must bear to carry out the water infrastructure updates essential to safeguarding the availability of clean, healthy drinking water and preventing environmental contamination.

“New York is committed to funding water infrastructure upgrades because every person has a right to clean water,”  Governor Hochul said.  “With this funding for communities across the state, we are providing critical resources to local economies, creating jobs and safeguarding the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.”

The  Richfield Springs award is one of 102 grants made through the State’s Water Infrastructure Improvement (WIIA) and Intermunicipal Grant (IMG) programs, committed to funding water infrastructure projects across New York State. A complete list of WIIA and IMG awardees, including an interactive map and listing of projects by region, is available on EFC’s website.
